On the last day we had a photo scavenger hunt and found statues and murals on the Drag and on campus.

Here's Joey in front of the Austintatious mural with both feet in the air.

Here is a picture of Anji standing on one foot in front of the mural.

Here's Eric being expansive.

And here's a picture of Sam holding something sold at the Renaissance Street Market in front of the mural. Is he standing on one foot?

In this one Sam looks a little happier.

Here are Rachel and Quinn. What is Quinn holding?

Anji, Sam and Eric worked together. Here they are all dancing while including the whole Austintatious mural in the picture.

Here Sam and Eric are with Billy in front of the University Baptist Church, with its mural of a dove. Sam is standing and holding something that related to the theme of the mural while Eric is in a prayer pose.

The four of them went to Blue Velvet and successfully satisfied the requirements of wearing a funny hat, a jacket and a dress.

Are they jumping like the frog? Do they have the same expression as Jeremiah?

John Matthews, our dragonfly/climate change* expert, wrote this in response to my thank you note for his participation:
I was not exaggerating when I said that I feel a little calmer whenever I learn that other people are now worried. I keep a mental list of things that should be on the front page of the New York Times every day in 50 point type, and climate change is clearly one of those issues. I wish we had discussed this as a moral issue a bit more. Al Gore certainly drives that home throughout the movie: "This is not a scientific issue; it is a moral and ethical issue." Or words very close to that effect. Whatever people think about Gore as a politician or as a person, he will seem horrifically prescient in ten years. Please encourage your students to see the movie. They should also make plans to see polar bears, coral reefs, glaciers, and penguins in the near future.There were one or two students who didn't raise their hands at the end, and I would have liked to have asked them about their impressions. I'm always curious about why people aren't worried about issue.

*I'm trying to train myself to say "climate change" instead of "global warming" - like the scientists.

Professor Avraham Zilkha

Several of you have mentioned Professor Avraham Zilkha's great discussion with us. Prof. Avraham Zilkha holds degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and linguistics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Texas. He has taught at Indiana and Ohio State universities, and is currently on the faculty of the Middle East department at UT Austin. He teaches courses in Hebrew linguistics and Aramaic, on the Jewish communities of the Middle East, and on society and politics in Israel. He has published on the Arab-Israeli conflict and authored the Yale Hebrew dictionaries.

This entire camp has been an amazing experience for me so far. It's been interesting getting to know you guys (and gals). There has definitely been some conflict here and some resolution. I hope that you've learned a lot. I also hope that you've met some friends and made some connections that will influence your future.

Many people have had a part in putting together this camp. You should all think about and thank them whilst you meditate in near future.

Well.....Its really been fun spending an ENITRE WEEK with you people. Weve had a great chance to bond ..(some more than others), learn and relate to others and it couldnt have happened without the patience and ..umm..work.. of these counselors thankyou for putting up with us. Anyone notice that the closest thing that has brought us together is GHOST STORIez? anwyz guyz..seriously stop taking all the chips and queso ..and robert no more bangs on tha table fool.

An hour ago, a speaker came to discuss how ethics are involved in leadership; and what can happend when people give in to these powerful people and why. Touching on the watergate scandal, the My Tai insident in vietnam, the whole Enron problem and the juicy things that police officers have done it was a clear depiction of how powerful people take advantage of there authority and do horrible things. he was very enlightening
