John Matthews, our dragonfly/climate change* expert, wrote this in response to my thank you note for his participation:
I was not exaggerating when I said that I feel a little calmer whenever I learn that other people are now worried. I keep a mental list of things that should be on the front page of the New York Times every day in 50 point type, and climate change is clearly one of those issues. I wish we had discussed this as a moral issue a bit more. Al Gore certainly drives that home throughout the movie: "This is not a scientific issue; it is a moral and ethical issue." Or words very close to that effect. Whatever people think about Gore as a politician or as a person, he will seem horrifically prescient in ten years. Please encourage your students to see the movie. They should also make plans to see polar bears, coral reefs, glaciers, and penguins in the near future. There were one or two students who didn't raise their hands at the end, and I would have liked to have asked them about their impressions. I'm always curious about why people aren't worried about issue.

*I'm trying to train myself to say "climate change" instead of "global warming" - like the scientists.
